This painting, Setting Sun, was born from a moment of awe — one of those evenings when the sun seemed to melt into the water, casting light like a blessing across the waves. I had been watching the horizon, not for inspiration, but for peace. The world felt loud that day, and the water’s rhythmic motion offered a kind of stillness that I desperately needed.

As the sun began its descent, the sky exploded into a tapestry of colors — fiery oranges, gentle purples, deep blues — and the sea mirrored it all in shifting ribbons of light. I knew I had to capture not just the visual, but the emotional power of that scene. The brilliance of the sunlight reflecting on the water became a symbol of transition — the way endings can be as beautiful and radiant as beginnings.

In painting it, I allowed the brush to follow the rhythm of the waves, layering color and light to evoke movement and serenity all at once. This piece became a meditation on letting go, on finding beauty in the fading light, and on how nature quietly reminds us to pause, breathe, and just be. It’s not just a sunset — it’s a feeling of release and renewal.

This painting was made with oil paints on a gallery canvas, which does not require framing, as the sides are painted.
