This painting was inspired by one of those fleeting yet powerful moments in nature when time seems to slow down — the kind that makes you stop in your tracks and just watch.
It was early autumn, and I remember standing by a quiet lakeshore near the mountains, the air crisp and still. Suddenly, a V-formation of Canada geese broke the silence, lifting off from the water with a sense of determined grace. That sound — the flapping wings and their distinctive honks echoing through the valley — stirred something deep in me.
I created this piece to capture the feeling of transition — of letting go and moving on. The geese symbolize change, movement, and resilience. Their migration reminds us that while some things must be left behind, it’s all part of a greater cycle. The snow-dusted peaks and fading autumn colors represent the seasonal shift, while the calm water reflects not only the landscape but the quiet acceptance of nature’s rhythm.
As I painted, I imagined the birds calling out to the land, as if saying goodbye with the promise to return. It’s a farewell, but not a final one. Through this painting, I wanted to express both the beauty and the bittersweetness of departure — a reminder that every ending holds the seed of return.
