In this oil painting, I wanted to capture the raw beauty of the Canadian wilderness at the height of autumn. The foreground rocks lead the viewer’s eye gently into the serene lake, which reflects the blazing reds, oranges, and golds of the trees lining the shore. Beyond them rise the majestic, rugged mountains, their presence softened by the pastel hues of the evening sky. The contrast between the sharp solidity of stone, the delicate shimmer of water, and the fiery vibrancy of foliage creates a balance of permanence and change.

My intent with this piece was to celebrate the fleeting splendour of fall—the moment when nature bursts into one last fiery dance before winter sets in. It’s a reminder of how quickly beauty passes, and how important it is to pause, breathe it in, and let ourselves be moved by it. This painting is both a love letter to Canada’s natural landscapes and an invitation for viewers to find peace and reflection within them.
