Diva’s Daydream is part of my Altered Realism series.
This painting was born from my desire to explore inner strength, feminine energy, and the layered nature of identity through a more abstract and symbolic lens.
As I painted this grayscale portrait, I wanted her expression — serene, eyes closed, lips sealed in quiet confidence — to reflect a powerful inward gaze. She’s not asleep; she’s awakened — not to the outside world, but to something deeper within herself. The bold red roses are not mere adornments but symbols of passion, love, and vitality. The metallic gold strokes represent both beauty and battle scars — traces of life’s experiences etched into her spirit, not to diminish her, but to enrich her.
The contrast between the monochrome figure and the bursts of vivid red, electric turquoise, and shimmering gold allowed me to express the dualities we carry: strength and softness, confidence and vulnerability, reality and imagination. There’s an emotional intensity just beneath the surface, like a dream that lingers even after waking.
I created Diva’s Daydream during a time of personal and creative reflection — when I was drawn to portraying the unseen, the emotional, the mythical side of femininity. This painting is my tribute to every woman who closes her eyes not in escape, but in reclamation — to dream, to remember, to become.
It’s not just a portrait. It’s a transformation in progress.
